Oh the weather outside is frightful

But the fire is soo warm and cozy indoors. We spent the day out in crowds galore. First we went downtown to see some of the runners in Santa suits taking part in the great Santa run sponsored by a place out here called Opportunity Village. Then we decided to see some of the holiday decorations the casinos put up every year, and finally we went shopping. Albiet the stores aren't as packed with holiday revelers and well wishes as they were years back. We encountered so many negative and just plain nasty people fighting over items unnecessarily. And don't get me started on the inconsiderate people who don't know the meaning of the words please, thank you and excuse me....

Deck the halls and all that other stuff that goes along with the holiday spirit is long gone. Granted this will be a tight season and possibly several more to follow but you'd think people could be a bit nicer to one another. I'll not be Scrooge. I feel bad for all the children this year who will find out there is no Santa because Daddy had to loose his job.

I'm just glad to be out of the crowds, away from the idiots and back into my warm cozy house...

So true in so many ways. This year I got two angels off the Salvation Army angel tree because I wanted to make sure at least two little ones didn't have to experience the downside of our economy.

"runners in Santa suits"
wasn't it interesting to see a bunch of red and white bodies bobbing down the street?
I still haven't gone out to do any shopping yet... not that i like to shop to begin with (missed getting that female trait)... i'm going to try to get out there when the crowds will be minimal, but in this town that might be a tad tough to do. so did all the inconsiderate boobs remind you of being back east? a little taste of being back in the good ol' tri-state area... ah. lol

It was a bit of a disappointment for the children who had to witness MANY Santa's and couldn't figure out who the real one was. I was amazed they didn't trample one another there were so many runners. Just reminded me of being back east with the Salvation Army Santa's on the street corners collecting money by ringing a bell.

I think the people out here are more ignorant then what we had back east...I spent my last winter before moving here in 07 Christmas shopping in Menlo Park Mall and had a great time. Same when we headed into the city to see the tree and a show...everyone was happy even tho it was a madhouse. There's something about Christmas in NYC that brings the best out in people. Everyone I ran into was polite and smiled at you. Out here people ignore you and are extremely rude.
