Sweating with Sven

Yesterday was my first day of Sweating with Sven: http://70daysofsweat.com/wordpress/
My goal is to write 1,000 words a day. And my first day was sucessful with 1,020 words! The cool thing about Sven is they put in 7 free days and you should still make your goal. I know that I want to finish Unseen Path and I’m hoping Sven will be the push I need. They have check-ins and the authors encourage each other. I’ve done this once before, but I quit before it was through. I plan on sticking it out this year. What is different you might ask, well let me tell you. This year I am more focused. My characters are actually talking to me and I know it is with in my power.

I think focus is my main issue. I tend to get distracted by so many ideas. Sven will help me focus on one. I know that every night I need to sit down once my son is in bed and write 1,000 words. I also know I can do it. I can do a 500 word flash no problem. I think it is a mental thing to tell you the truth. And lately I’ve been in a little slump writing wise. I think that has to do with the two stories that are finished that need edits. One is around 30,000 and I have a “was” infestation I need to take care of. The other is a short m/m, my first that still needs a little work. I need to take my focus off of them for just a bit and work on this new idea. See…I need focus. I’m all over the place. Lol

There is another writing challenge out there, but it seems overwhelming to me so I didn’t sign up. http://www.nanowrimo.org/ The authors that sign up for this one impress me. With the other things going on in my day to day life, I just don’t see me being able to complete NaNo! That would just discourage me so I will stick with Sven and let him sweat my 1,000 words a day out of me and enjoy every minute of it. It will feel like I’m in boot camp all over again!
Good luck to everyone participating in these writing challenges and I hope it helps you as much as it is going to help me. Failure is NOT an option! lol

Hey Jambrea,
Sven sounds like my kinda guy. Is he single? KIDDING!!!
I think it's so cool that writers have so many options via the Internet now. Really amazing. BTW, I did NaNoWriMo a couple of years ago and felt such a sense of achievement at the end of it. I wish you good luck in all your new goals hon. 1,000 words...I'll be checking on you later!

Heehee AJ...He isn't single if you count the 100s of authors who signed up to be with him! lol

Thanks AJ. I didn't get my 1,000 in last night I was a little...ummmm...busy! lol I'm going to make up for it this week by adding a little more to my word count each night. Plus...I do get 7 free days. :)

This is very interesting. I might even join the group because it would be a great motivator!

Thanks for letting us know.

glad you found an option that works for you. 1000k/day for 70k in 70 days seems alot easier than 50 k in a month. maybe for the second book in my prophesy series i'll have to look into using Sven myself.
=)
